Quote requests

Take enquiries instead of payments. Store business types only.

๐Ÿ“ Stores only

Quote requests are available when your business type is store. If it's set to restaurant you won't see the quote form settings or the Quotes tab. Change it in Settings โ†’ Business.

What they're for

Some things can't have a price on them until you know what's involved. A quote-only item shows a Request quote button instead of a price and a cart, and the customer tells you what they need.

This suits:

  • Work priced per job โ€” installations, events, consulting
  • Made-to-order goods
  • Bulk or trade enquiries
  • Anything needing a site visit or assessment first

Making an item quote-only

  1. Go to Catalog and open or create an item
  2. Under Product settings, set how it's bought to Quote only
  3. The price becomes optional โ€” leave it empty, or enter a "from" figure to set expectations
  4. Save

Quote-only items are never added to a cart, even when selling is on.

Designing the quote form

Ask for what you actually need to price the job โ€” every extra field costs you completed enquiries.

  1. Go to Settings โ†’ Selling โ†’ Quote request form
  2. Click + Add field
  3. Configure it:
    • Label โ€” what the customer sees, e.g. "Event date"
    • Type โ€” short text, long text, dropdown or checkbox
    • Options โ€” for dropdowns, one per line
    • Required โ€” whether they can submit without it
  4. Drag to reorder, then save

Working through requests

  1. Open Quotes in the navigation
  2. Requests are grouped as Pending, Contacted and Closed, with search and a date filter
  3. Click one to see everything they submitted
  4. Move it along as you respond

New requests also raise a banner on your dashboard, so a quote doesn't sit unanswered.

How the assistant handles them

  • It knows which items are quote-only and describes them when asked
  • Customers can ask it to start a quote for a specific service
  • It opens the form itself when the conversation gets there
  • It never puts a quote-only item in a cart
