Answering vs selling

New accounts answer questions but don't take orders. Here's why, and how to change it.

Why there's no Orders tab

Raglie starts in answer-only mode. Your assistant describes what you sell, answers questions about it, and points people at what they need — but there's no cart, no checkout, and no Orders tab in the navigation. You don't need Stripe, and you don't need to have decided anything about fulfilment.

This is deliberate. Plenty of businesses want the answering half and nothing else: a salon that books by phone, a trade that quotes every job, a shop whose stock lives somewhere else. Making them configure a checkout they'll never use would be busywork.

What you get in answer-only mode

  • The full assistant, answering out of your catalog and everything in Knowledge
  • All four embed surfaces, and your hosted page
  • Item cards with prices, photos, sizes and options — customers just can't buy them
  • External link items, which send customers to wherever you do take the booking or the payment
  • Chat analytics — questions answered and conversations

Turning selling on

  1. Go to Settings → Selling
  2. Switch on Sell through your assistant
  3. Choose how you fulfil orders — this sets the statuses your orders move through. See Order types and fulfilment.
  4. Connect Stripe so customers can pay. See Setting up Stripe.

The Orders tab appears as soon as selling is on. Turning it back off hides the tab and the cart again; existing orders are kept.

📝 Note

Several articles in this help centre describe the Orders tab, checkout and payouts. If you can't find what they're describing, this is almost always why — selling is still off.
